One of the things I’ve noticed, in just about every expression of professing followers of Messiah, is the willingness to settle for a status quo. Or, even worse, believing that arrival at a destination of final Truth, based on our estimation and research, is reached. I believe this is dangerous!
Professing Christianity, that rejects the Torah, and the Sabbath, the True Name of Elohim, and the Appointed Times (Moedim) of YHWH believes it has all Truth. She is not interested in change, and, in fact, is quick to elevate her position to that of established fact. Messianic Judaism, and various sects based on all, or some of the practices and teachings of Judaism is in the same boat.
There are some things that are pretty apparent in Scripture. His Name is not left to conjecture, other than we really don’t know, for sure, as to the correct pronunciation. His Sabbath is established and unchanging in Scripture. His Moedim are commanded and we are to appear. We may not have the day of the Moedim correct, but if we have a heart to appear, to humbly submit, and to allow the Master to change us as He sees fit, we’re on the right track. And the most important established fact, inarguable, is that we “must be born from above,” otherwise we are unable to “see the kingdom” of YHWH Elohim.
You Must Be Born Again
Joh 3:1 “And there was a man of the Pharisees, Naḵdimon was his name, a ruler of the Yehuḏim.
Joh 3:2 This one came to יהושע by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from Elohim, for no one is able to do these signs You do if Elohim is not with him.”
Joh 3:3 יהושע answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born from above, he is unable to see the reign of Elohim.” Footnote: Or perceive.
Joh 3:4 Naḵdimon said to Him, “How is a man able to be born when he is old? Is he able to enter into his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”
Joh 3:5 יהושע answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he is unable to enter into the reign of Elohim.
Joh 3:6 “That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.”
Messiah’s conversation with a teacher of Israel is very instructive to us. Nakdimon, or Nicodemus as his name is rendered in most English versions, as a teacher of Torah, believed the prevailing, established “understanding” of Torah. Yet, as Messiah said, “unless one is born from above, he is unable to see the reign of Elohim.” The word goes far beyond just a physical sense of sight. It goes to the depth of perception, and understanding. The learned teacher did not have a grasp on the Truth of Torah. He needed to be born again from above!
So does this mean that, as ones who are born again, that we have now a full grasp on the Truth? Well, no. What it means is that now we have a path to the Truth. We have the indwelling Spirit of Elohim, who will lead us into all Truth, reveal Truth, and have a causative effect on us to walk in Truth. But one must humbly yield to the work of the Spirit for this process to happen. This means we can never believe that we have the entirety of it all figured out. We still exist in this body, and the flesh is in the mix. The flesh cannot discern the things of Yah. In fact it is impossible for the flesh to submit to Torah, so how can the flesh have understanding and revelation to teach Torah? It cannot! See Romans Chapter 8 for the context of this statement.
May we be people who know that, at best, we are unprofitable servants, who can only please Yah by belief, and the resulting work of favor/grace in and through us. And this happens, only if, we are born from above to begin the process of revelation, walk and deliverance.
Eph 2:8 For by favour you have been saved, through belief, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of Elohim,
Eph 2:9 it is not by works, so that no one should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Messiah יהושע (Yahusha)unto good works, which Elohim prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Shalom
