We are in the midst of the fall feasts – the end of the year Moedim of YHWH Elohim.
Last week we observed Yom Zikron Turuah, The Day of remembrance and proclamation. I say “we,” in that is when Messiah Fellowship, in Ontario (near Howe), Indiana observed the Moed. I am aware that many have different calculations than we do. I trust that you, as we are, are continually seeking Yah for Truth and Revelation as to the timing of His Moedim.
We have come to a conclusion by faith/belief in the fulfillment of the Moedim, according to His timing. He accomplished Pesah/Passover, once for all. We don’t look for another. Messiah has come. We remember that every year at Pesah, according to when it He accomplished it. Observance of the Moed does not change, as He did it once, and won’t do it again. We are to remember/commemorate what He did, in the timing of when He did it. We are not looking for another “Lamb of Yah,” nor another Messiah, nor another Great High Priest, nor another to ransom us. It is not according to a sighting of the moon, in Israel, or anywhere else.
I believe His Moed and His calendar are fixed in place, and always have been. This is not my intent to go into a calendar study at this point. It is my desire to encourage my brothers and sisters to leave the practices of trying to rely on human understanding, and traditions of those who are not born again to guard Torah and observe His Moedim/Appointed Times. AND don’t rely on your own understanding.
Pro 3:5 Trust in יהוה with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
Pro 3:6 Know Him in all your ways, And He makes all your paths straight.
Pro 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;a Fear יהוה and turn away from evil.
Day after tomorrow, on the 6th Day of the Week, we will observe His Day of Atonement. He is our atoning sacrifice. We remember, again, what He has done for us. He is EVERY sacrifice we read of in Torah. He is the entirety of Torah and the Moedim.
I won’t go into a lot of detail, but I’m, again this year, reminded of Yeshayahu/Isaiah 58, in connection with this Moedim of remembering His Atonement for me. It transcends fasting from food. I’m not saying one should not, nor cannot fast from food. But I am encouraging a look beyond that traditional practice as being the end all of observance of the Day. If fasting from food is all that we have to do to observe the Day, then have we heard from Him? Why the annual observance of the Day, appearing before Him every year, if we are not to receive further instruction, that means our understanding is furthered, or even changed? Or do you think you have a complete handle on the Truth? I know I don’t. I need to hear and know more, to have my understanding brought into alignment with His perfect way that is above our own. This is a Scriptural Truth that seems to be set aside.
When we look to the understanding and practice of men, who present their understanding as settled and accepted practice, even if they are not born again from above, are we setting aside that Scriptural Truth? Who has accepted men’s practice as established? Was it Yah? Or is it men, of varying sects, who gravitate to one teacher/rabbi or another, who fits more closely their own proclivities, agendas, or opinion? These bring division. The Set Apart Spirit of Yah is in the business of making us one, as we each receive a “Love for the Truth,” and are yielding to Him and not relying on traditions of men. Even men who are born again from above cannot ever believe that their current understanding is settled once for all! He does not change, but we must!
It all comes down to His Way, His Truth, and His Life. They are encapsulated in His Moedim. He requires that we appear before Him to be set in order, in order that we might continue in the Truth, the Way, and the Life encapsulated in His Moedim every single day of the year, on the path to the place He has prepared for us. He is preparing us, if we are willing to come humbly before Him, at His Moedim, and every day of our life.
